Stage 2 - Preparing with primer seal & crack filler
The new lacquer will adhere better to existing ORIGINAL surface finishes better then bare leather. The removal of the finishes back to the porous hide itself will dry hard & brittle. Also, vintage leather which has established oxidized cracks may extract the moisture from any new lacquers resulting in a dry & brittle finish. We recommend our REJUVENATION OIL (see www.leathercaredirect.com) is added 50/50 to thinners if your interior has been restored before & requires product removal without drying out the leather further. Working REJUVENATION OIL into vintage leather daily over a period of a few weeks after cleaning, but prior to refinishing will result in a more supple end result. When satisfied with the results remove excess oil from leather surface with thinners & allow drying prior to renovation.

Once dry, pack out any areas where leather touching with rolls of plain non printed paper. Use fine wet & dry abrasive paper to lightly sand any rough or cracked panels & blow away dust when complete. You may find a quick wipe over the leather facings with a mild solvent helps degrease & remove impurities which do not always wash off like clothing dye.
Before opening bottle of PRIMER SEAL, tip upside down & shake side to side for a minute to mix any separated ingredients stuck at the bottom.
There is a separate CROSSLINKER additive available for this product to aid in bonding to problem NEW leathers, but due to its hazardous nature it is not readily available to all. Contact us for details.

Wearing LATEX GLOVES provided, strain quantity of PRIMER SEAL into a shallow container. (a drop of COLOURED PIGMENT can be added to tint) Tear or cut off about 30cm of supplied STOCKINET & make into a small pad which fits comfortably in the palm of your hand. Dip bottom of pad into solution & allow absorbing then wiping liberally over surface of leather requiring refinishing. Apply wet but be very careful not to saturate the leather so runs form or you create "bridging" between piping or stitched seams. Bare areas may need an additional coat once previous application is thoroughly dry. This can be sped up with a hair dryer.

If you have any established cracks, these can be made shallower by using our flexible CRACK FILLER (do not try to "level" established cracks as they may crack again deeper. A lighter application of filler should keep them flexible & resemble natural creases). We suggest a stiff piece of card is used to apply evenly, smoothing off excess as you go. This will go on as a white cream but will sink in when dry. To speed up the leveling process, further applications are recommended whilst blowing across the surface with a hairdryer. When satisfied & area dry, lightly smooth off with fine wet & dry abrasive paper. Any residue can be removed with an additional wipe over with PRIMER SEAL. Filling established cracks & creases is purely cosmetic & will come back if also established in the foam behind. Allow to dry.
